'Annia' Etruscilla
Lot 867
CILICIA. Tarsus. Herennia Etruscilla, Augusta, 249-251. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 15.27 g, 12 h). ΑΝΝΙΑΝ (sic!) ΑΙΤΡΟΥϹΚΙΛΛΑΝ ϹЄ Diademed and draped bust of Herennia Etruscilla to right. Rev. ΤΑΡϹΟΥ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛƐΩϹ - Α / Μ / Κ - Γ / Β Nike standing left on globe, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder. RPC IX 1378 (same dies). Very rare. Corroded and with some flatness, otherwise, very fine.

This must have been Herennia's first obverse die at Tarsos, as the die cutter got her first name completely wrong - a mistake that was later corrected by recutting the die (see RPC IX 1377 for the recut die)
